We will be participating in the State testing program this month. All students will take the CAASPP in both language arts and math, and 8th grade students will also take a science test (CST).
Testing begins on May 11. There are days that we will have special schedules. They are May 12, May 16 and 17. Testing continues into the week of May 23. We ask that you refrain from scheduling appointments that would take your student out of school during these days.
For complete information, please read Mr. Malotte's letter available here.
Acts of Kindness
We are promoting "Kindness Day" on Thursday, May 5. Classes will support random acts of kindness, and ASB has activities and ideas. This is a great time to talk with your children about the importance of being kind, and have them experience the good feeling of helping others. Perhaps your family could do something in your neighborhood, an act of kindness for a specific neighbor, or something for a team or organization. Maybe it's time to clean out some items and donate to a charity. Perhaps some allowance could be contributed to a good cause. The trait of kindness can be taught and strengthened with effort.
The Orange County Department of Education is launching its "One Billion Acts of Kindess" initiative May 5. Click the link for to see what they have planned, and how you can record and share your acts of kindness. This is definitely a trait we all want to see in ourselves and others.
Interested in joining our Colorguard Squad? They lead the parade in fall and compete in competitions in later months. Tryouts are May 23 - May 26 after school in the main gym. They last until 5:00 each day.
It's important that parents attend the tryout on May 23 to fill out paperwork. No student can practice or perform without completed packets.
All students interested are encouraged to apply. Those on the team this year also have to complete forms and tryout for the 2016-2017 year.
