Language Arts Honors-Period 2 Assignments

Create a meme that represents your 8th grade year or your middle school years. Create one that you will want to save and look at when you are a junior or senior in high school. Please make it school appropriate.
This will not be graded.

Write a paragraph of at least 250 word describing: What high school you are going to? Why? Will you be involved with anything at the school? Will you be taking honors/AP courses? What do you hope will happen while you attend the school for the next 4 years? How do you want to contribute to the school/community?

Directions and rubric are on page #2. Please type on page #1. This is due Friday, June 5th by midnight.

Please follow the directions on the Flipgrid. Make sure you take your time and pause the recording as needed. This is not due until midnight Friday, May 29th but you may turn it in early if you want to get it off of your mind.

Choose from the 3 writing prompts and write your essay. Please type your essay on the page with the prompts that are Google Classroom. Remember to use in text citations for anything that is not common knowledge, and only have the writing prompt you chose above your essay. This is due by midnight Friday, May 29th.

Complete the graphic organizer depending on the prompt you chose from page one. This is due by midnight Wednesday, May 27th.

Please write a short book review on the novel. Ensure you have 2 reasons as to why you liked/disliked the book.

The speech should be two to three minutes in length. It will be given during the promotion ceremony. (The Welcome speech should be one to two minutes in length and the Reflections and New Horizons speeches should be two to three minutes)

The topics are: (You pick which one you would like to do. Currently there are no responses from the "Welcome" option)
“WELCOME” Welcome parents, relatives, and guests to
the ceremony- expresses pleasure of students having achieved this step in their
educational process and having friends
and family present.

“REFLECTIONS” Looking back over the past three years and recalling good times, special events,
successful experiences, funny incidents, etc.- should be well-balanced between academic, extracurricular, and fun activities.

“NEW HORIZONS” Looking toward the future and speculating on what it may hold, yet remembering our experiences and background.

Please read the prompt carefully on symbolism. Use the link as needed. Double check your work before submitting. Due on Tuesday, May 19th by midnight.

Please show your third quarter board work on the Flipgrid. Be sure to show the 3 stamps on the original board work. Explain and show any extra credit that you have completed (cover page, typing, different color for what was copied off of screen and what was done on your own, pictures). Take your time to display things on the camera, and speak slowly. It is not due until 5/16.

Please write a paragraph of no more than 150 words on the foreshadowing in chapter 13. Write the amount of words used at the end of the paragraph. Double check your work before submitting, it is due Friday by midnight.

Please write a paragraph of no more than 250 words on the theme of the chapter. Provide 2 examples from the chapter to support the theme you choose. Please review you paragraph for errors before submitting.

Please show your assignment log for 3rd quarter on the Flipgrid. Be sure to show both sides and have an explanation for each assignment that you did not earn all the points for.

Please complete a level 1, 2, and 3 question and answer for chapter 11 on the document provided. Double check your spelling, grammar, and clarity before submitting. Label the levels of questions. Due Friday, May 8th by midnight.

Follow the instructions on the copy in Google Classroom. The paragraph should be 150 words or less, and is due on Wednesday, May 6th by midnight.

Please write a 150 or less response to the question. Please double check your grammar, spelling and clarity and stay below 150 words to ensure this paragraph will not take more than 30 minutes to complete. It is advised to read the chapter (annotating the irony in the chapter) on Monday, on Tuesday write your paragraph, and on Wednesday reread your paragraph (making adjustments as needed) and submit.

Summarize Chapter 7 of the Watsons Go to Birmingham in 250 words or less. Please take a look at the example paragraph summary of 250 words or less. Please attach your Google Document to your submission. Include the word count at the end of your paragraph.

This quiz is due on Wednesday before Midnight. Answer 2 of the 3 questions in 150 words or less. Please take your time and ensure your writing is clear, free of errors (grammar, spelling), and includes and example from the novel.

Please read and then write a summary of chapter 6 of no more than 150 words, then pick one of the 5 main characters of the novel and write a paragraph of no more than 250 words on his progression through the novel from chapter 1-6. The file below has example paragraphs and a link with a short video.
