ELA 8-Period 3 Assignments

Create a meme that represents your 8th grade year or your middle school years. Create one that you will want to save and look at when you are a junior or senior in high school. Please make it school appropriate. This will not be graded.

Choose 1 of the 5 prompts. Write at least 3 paragraphs on the prompt you choose with at least 5 sentences per paragraph. Due Friday June 5th by midnight.

Please answer the 5 questions on chapter 15. Ensure that you summarize the chapter in 5 sentences. This is due by midnight Friday, May 29th.

Please answer the 5 questions in complete sentences. Ensure that you summarize the chapter in at least 5 sentences. This is due Wednesday, May 27th by midnight.

Answer the 6 questions in complete sentences. Do 3 questions per day. Due Friday, May 22nd by midnight.

The speech should be two to three minutes in length. It will be given during the promotion ceremony. (The Welcome speech should be one to two minutes in length and the Reflections and New Horizons speeches should be two to three minutes)

The topics are:
“WELCOME” Welcome parents, relatives, and guests to
the ceremony- expresses pleasure of students having achieved this step in their
educational process and having friends
and family present.

“REFLECTIONS” Looking back over the past three years and recalling good times, special events,
successful experiences, funny incidents, etc.- should be well-balanced between academic, extracurricular, and fun activities.

“NEW HORIZONS” Looking toward the future and speculating on what it may hold, yet remembering our experiences and background.

Answer the questions in at least 4 complete sentences. There are four questions that you need to take your time with. I recommend to do 1 questions Monday, 2 on Tuesday, and do the final one on Wednesday. This is due by midnight Wednesday, the 20th. Please use spell check before submitting.

Get one of your parent and/or guardian to print and sign your Expectations and Procedures paper. Do not forget to print and sign it yourself.

Symbolism: Create a shirt that represents you then write a paragraph of at least 5 sentences that describes how and why it symbolizes you.

Draw or acquire a school appropriate picture for the cover of your 3 ring binder. Along with the picture ensure it has your name, class name, and period number on it. Remember the more effort you put into it the more points you will earn.

Answer the questions in the margin about the expectations and procedures. If you would rather answer the questions on a separate piece of paper you may do so BUT you MUST write the question on the lined sheet of paper. You will need to staple the expectations and procedures paper to the lined piece of paper and turn both in.

This activity will be done completely in class on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd. It is due at the end of class.
